Is it safe to remit money via the Internet?

Yes, we are using the same payments systems used by big companies like Amazon and Air Asia.

We are currently using Paypal, the most popular online payment system in the world. We will soon be incorporating other secure systems like Worldpay and online bank debit systems in the near future.

What is the fee charged by CharityMalaysia.com?

CharityMalaysia does not charge any fee on donations with effect from 1st May 2008. However, for online donations 6.4% will be charged by Paypal. Therefore, we encourage Malaysian donors to write cheques payable to "Charity Resources" for their donations to the charities.

What is the traditional fee charged by other professional fundraisers?

Most professional fundraisers charge between 50% to 70% of funds raised. Some charge these percentages even after costs. Please refer to newspaper articles in our newsletter for more information.

What are the advantages of donating online via CharityMalaysia.com compared to going through other professional fundraisers?

Free. CharityMalaysia is a non-profit organisation. We remit 100% of your funds donated to your designated charity. However, for online donations a Paypal charge of 6.4% currently is applicable.

Online. Therefore, it is faster and more efficient. You save time, petrol, parking, toll and other costs.

Screening. You can view the profile of the charity concerned in any part of Malaysia without actually having to travel there. Should you need any clarification you can contact them via snail mail, email, telephone or fax.

Peace of mind. You can verify whether your funds actually reach your intended charity instead of being used by fundraisers.

Other information. You may view data such as total funds received by any charity to-date, top donors and top recipient charities, appreciation and testimonies as well as photos.

How do I ensure that my funds are used for the purpose I intended by the Charity?

CharityMalaysia undertakes to remit your donations to your desired charity. The charity concerned then uses your funds for their mentioned purpose. However, we are not able to control this usage of funds by them. If the funds raised for their specific purpose is exceeded they have a right to use your funds for other purposes within their charity organisation.
